Lucie Douma
Bio & research
Lucie Douma grew up on a dairy farm in Southland, where she moved to with her parents from the Netherlands then she was three years old.
Lucie’s farming experience is in both dairy and beef farming helps her in her current (newly created) role at the Ministry for the Primary Industries (MPI), leading a team that is considering the impact of Covid-19 to New Zealand’s domestic food and fibre supply chains, and helping the primary sectors recover from Covid-19.
Before MPI Lucie worked in other government departments and consulted on sustainability and climate change with KPMG.
Lucie holds a Master’s of Science degree from the University of Oxford where she studied human-wildlife conflict.
Mat’s report aims to provide a model for generating and capturing ideas to solve the wicked problems of food and agriculture.
The key element to solving this is bringing to bear the focus, passion, practical application and entrepreneurial drive of our farmers and growers. The innovation model needs to put them at the centre and build an innovation consciousness amongst our farmers and growers.
