Mackenzie Charitable Foundation Scholarship
The Mackenzie Charitable Foundation are Strategic Partners of the NZ Rural Leadership Trust. The Foundation offers one generous full fee scholarship a year to the Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme.
This Scholarship is open to potential scholars in the Canterbury Region interested in leadership, youth development, and cancer research and training. Applications should include a cover letter and a one page submission on why you believe you should receive the scholarship.

Rural Leadership Advancement Scholarships
Beef + Lamb New Zealand is offering a $4,000 contribution towards a place on any Rural Leaders programme (Including Kellogg) starting in 2026 for six livestock farmers to advance their leadership skills and impact on the sector.
- Applicants must be actively living and working on a NZ livestock farm.
- Be a New Zealand resident.
- Demonstrated experience in the livestock sector with a commitment to leadership and community development.
- Must propose a relevant project topic (if looking at the Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme) that will benefit the wider levy payers and the sheep and beef sector.
- Willingness to report regularly to B+LNZ on programme progress and share findings at B+LNZ events.
- Scholarship must be used towards course fees and used within 12 months of receiving.
Applications for the 2026 Scholarships open 1 September 2025 and close 20 October 2025.

John Daniell Memorial Trust
To apply for funding from the John Daniell Memorial Trust applicants must be based in the Wairarapa or Tararua.
The Trust offers two $5000 Scholarships per year to go towards the fee for the Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme.
Applicants will need to complete an application form via the email below. Once completed, Trustees will review suitability for funding.
Applications for a John Daniell Memorial Trust Scholarship to attend Kellogg Programme One 2026, will need to be submitted to Delwyn Pringle at the email below by 5 October 2025.

Waikato-Tainui Scholarships
Waikato-Tainui offer potential Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme funding for Tainui Iwi registered Māori.
This potential Tainui funding would be from the Waikato-Tainui Tertiary Education Grant or the Tumate Mahuta Memorial Grant.
A further funding eligibility requirement is that you need to opt-in for the Post Graduate Certificate in Commerce from Lincoln University.
(You can concurrently achieve your Kellogg qualification and a Post Graduate Certificate in Commerce).

Meat Industry Association Scholarships
Meat Industry Association of New Zealand offers undergraduate scholarships of $5,000 a year for each year of study for up to three years. Post-graduate scholarships of $10,000 a year for each year of study for up to two years.
Assistance with obtaining study related projects / vacation work experience.
An introduction to the red meat industry networking opportunities and mentoring.
Robbie Burns Governance Scholarship
The Robbie Burnside Governance Scholarship is supported by Silver Fern Farms Co-operative.
The scholarship covers up to 50% of the cost of the approved programme, to a maximum of $10,000. The programmes provide the opportunity for Silver Fern Farms Co-operative shareholders to gain knowledge, skills and experience to contribute as governors of co-operative agribusinesses. Four programmes are supported through the Scholarship.

Wool Research Organisation of New Zealand (WRONZ)
WRONZ invest in education and professional development for the benefit of the wool industry.
The responsibility to fund academic education is met through the inclusion of postgraduate degree work or research fellowships embedded within New Uses Programme research. These opportunities can be explored with the manager of Wool Industry Research Limited (WIRL).
WRONZ offer support organisations or individuals to undertake professional development related to their roles within the industry. They will consider supporting activities including but not limited to:
Professional or technical development of existing staff in the areas of technical training, marketing, design, or management utilising external expertise.
Gaining new knowledge through participation in non-degree programmes or short courses at tertiary institutions or industry training organisations.

Yara NZ Women in Horticulture Scholarship
This $2000 Scholarship aims to recognise leadership qualities in a woman working in the horticulture industry. The primary purpose of the scholarship is to both provide recognition and financial assistance.
Whitney Conder won this scholarship in 2024. Whitney also graduated from the Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme in November 2024. Criteria for this scholarship include:
- Currently working in the horticulture industry
- Recognised by her organization as a high potential and motivated individual
- Demonstrates strong leadership qualities
- Contributes to community
- Is a New Zealand Citizen or permanent resident.

Hawke’s Bay Fruitgrowers Funding
Hawke’s Bay Fruitgrowers’ Association Charitable Trust has funding available annually to support the following list of Charitable Trust objectives:
To promote, encourage and foster research in the fields of and relating to fruit growing and to disseminate and make available the results for public use and for the improvement of human knowledge and to generally concern itself in fruit growing research within Hawke’s Bay.
The promotion and improvement of the standards of training and education in the Hawke’s Bay fruit growing industry.
To assist in the education of persons associated with the fruit growing industry in Hawke’s Bay.
To promote, encourage and foster education in all matters in, or relating to, the Hawke’s Bay fruit growing industry. Head to Hawke’s Bay Fruitgrowers Association to learn more.
C. Alma Baker Trust
C. Alma Baker Postgraduate Scholarships are available to students enrolled or intending to enrol in masterate or doctoral programmes in the fields of agriculture, agritech or the study of rural society.
Scholarships are valued at a maximum of $13,000 a year for masterate students and $20,000 a year for doctoral students. For masterate students, funding will be for one year (normally for a course including a significant research component).
In awarding scholarships, the Trust will take into account other awards held by the candidates.
Candidates must be New Zealand citizens, and graduates of a New Zealand university; awards are available for those intending to undertake postgraduate research either in New Zealand or overseas.
MG Charitable Trust - Grower Education Fund
The MG Charitable Trust generously offer one $5,600* subsidy towards the Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme fee per year (currently this is $7995 +GST). The subsidy comes from MG Charitable Trust’s Grower Education Fund and is open to growers throughout the horticulture industry.’
Decisions about 2026’s funds are to be made by the MG Charitable Trust in November this year. In the meantime you can apply for the contestable funding here.

NZ Wine – Bragato Postgraduate Scholarship
The Bragato Post Graduate Scholarship may be awarded annually by the Board of Trustees at their sole discretion. Only one scholarship per annum may be awarded.
The Scholarship will be such amount as the Trustees agree up to a maximum of NZ$15,000 toward the cost of travel, accommodation, manuals, books, course fees, and course materials. The Scholarship will be for one year only, but recipients may re-apply in subsequent years.
Applicants may also apply for other grants. Applications close on 31 March each year.

Rural Leaders is registered with the Regional Business Partner Network. What does this mean if you’re applying for Kellogg? You may be eligible to receive funding assistance up to 50% of the Kellogg programme fee.

JD & RD Wallace LP/Kotare Pastoral Ltd are offering two farming scholarships to Waikato and King Country students.
To be eligible for one of the two $5000 scholarships students must be studying in the Agriculture industry and from the Waikato and King Country.

Fonterra Dairy Woman of the Year Award (DWN/Fonterra)
Applications for the 2025 Fonterra Dairy Woman of the Year are closed with Jo Sheridan winning the Award. This Award comes with a scholarship to be part of the Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme. It covers the programme fee, travel and accommodation, and mentoring.
