Bio & research

Daniel Eb (Dan) comes from a family beef finishing block in Northland and is the Director of Dirt Road Comms in Auckland. Dirt Road Comms was established to support those building a more just, regenerative food system in New Zealand.

He sees farmers as a new type of hero in a wider culture that desperately needs to rebuild our relationship to the natural world. As stewards of nature and the food that connects us back to the land, Dan sees brave leadership by farmers as our best shot at confronting society’s existential challenges and ensuring a viable future.

Dan is also the founder of Open Farms – New Zealand’s nationwide, all-sector Open Farm day to reconnect urban Kiwis with our land, food and farmers. He is a media contributor, host of the ‘Why We Grow Show’ podcast and industry speaker.

Dan supports progressive Ag organisations with brand purpose, digital marketing and PR to make a positive impact in the sector he loves.

He is an ex Territorial army officer and Northland farm boy and is happiest on a fence-line.

A fracturing social licence to farm. Recruitment. An authentic provenance story. These are our sector’s most entrenched challenges. At their roots, they are about culture, values and perception.
